WOMEN WHO FEEL: ZONKE DIKANA

Local songbird Zonke Dikanas new album is a true testimony on how she has reinvented herself as an artist and shows her growth within the music industry.

Zonke has been the voice on many house tracks and has released albums overseas but her latest offering Ina Ethe is one of the best albums she has released so far! Not only is it receiving recognition but it has one of the best local tracks listened to by many,'feelings'

She revealed that it was hard for people to actually follow her music because she was not really well-known in the entertainment industry," I'm used to being a back up singer for many artists but was not featured in most". this has not stopped Zonke from releasing such a great and selling albums. "I'm grateful and happy that I'm finally being recognised".

Her first hit single Jik'izinto caused quite a buzz on local radio giving the audience a reason to want more. It is safe to say that Zonkes hit single FEELINGS is making its mark within the music industry. With her positiveness its about time that her talent shines.

On her latest album Ina Ethe, Zonke Dikana is a far cry from the woman on her debut album Life, Love and Music, released in 2007 under the kwaito label Kalawa Jazmee - which is home to artists including Professor and Oskido. This album has shown growth and a better understanding on the level of work that is expected from her.

Dikana canbe a role  model to many. She started at the bottom and worked her way up again even though she wasn't known she never gave up on her talent and focused on her real passion which is music. so what are your views on her new album and your take in the kind of genre she sings?

A POWERFUL STATEMENT

President Jacob Zuma believes south Africa has achieved far more in 18 years of service delivery than any other country.

This is a very powerful statement for the president of any country to say, especially when the people within that country find that statement to be debatable.

Zuma believes that more people continue to strive for basic necessities; but the path in which the country has taken is totally opposite the way in which the government see things.

Children in various provinces suffered tremendously after the textbook fiasco, robbing learners valuable learning material. This highlights poor service delivery, showing a huge disadvantage to the Minister of Education and her team.

the Marikana massacre and the huge rape story that left the nation in shock was also something the government had control over and could have changed the outcome. the nation is still recovering from such horrible happenings.

we still live in a country where women are taken advantage of and not being noticed.
Needless to say its important to ask questions like:

*has the government done its fraction of what could have been done to improve the lives of all South Africans?

ANC does it AGAIN....

protestors: Same police-different faces

The number one leading party has done it yet again resolving problems the only way they know how, with VIOLENCE.

The Marikana Massacre has seen more than 40 people killed and 78 were injured due to the fact that mine workers had a strike, wanting an increase in their monthly salaries which makes sense. What man can live on a R4000 a month with a family of 6?

Marikana Massacre

It is stated that the ANC issued a statement commending the SAPS for deploying 3000 ''heavily armed police'' in Marikana. What government in its right mind would send more than 100 policemen to stop a stike that consists of less then 300 men? There must be something seriously wrong with the mental status of this government that we consistently praise.

In a recent article in the City Press, it is said that Julius Malema had stated infront of Lonmin miners that President of the ANC, Jacob Zuma, presided over the killing of our people and therefore he must step down. I guess we all have to wonder what hand our president had in all this insanity?

SAPS in Marikana

Women and children, fathers and mothers are all crying over their loved ones but what is our ruling party doing?? Congratulating SAPS for a job well-done.?? Is that what our government has turned into? What happened to ANC for the People?

Madonsela Fires Back....

Last weeks blog was about how Thuli Madonsela was put on the spot by the ruling party the ANC. We recieved comments stating that Madonsela did absolutely nothing wrong and that the ANC was being unreasonable.

public protector: Thulisile Madonsela
speaks out

After the criticism made by the ANC Madonsela fired back. She attended an audit conference in Johannesburg and told them that her presene at the Womens Day organised by the DA was "part of her mandate and was aimed at gaining and maintaining confidence from concerned parties http://www.iol.co.za/news/politics/madonsela-unfazed-by-criticism. She also stated that one should not adapt to one operation because a stakeholder or a group of people want things done their way.

President Jacob Zuma,
 DA leader Hellen Zille and
ANC general secretary Gwede Mantashe
Is this the case though, that ANC would rather see things their way rather than looking at the need of the country. What does this say about the way in which the ANC runs the country, how is unity up held in this way? Will these powerful parties (the DA and the ANC) ever work or agree on anything?

Instead of parties working together to uplift and uphold the dignity and respect that we already have as a country they always try by all means to destroy one another. Hows that for a country instead of developing South Africa we are politically diminishing it.

ANC slams Madonsela-''Whats new"

Thulisile Madonsela,South Africas Public Protector
Thulisile Madonsela, our very own Public Protector who is also a Human Rights lawyer and equality expert. Thulisile Madonsela has clearly made her mark in South Africa and is not known as being biased, doesnt take sides whether the outcome is good or bad.

This prestigeous woman is now being accused by the ANC saying that:''for her not to attend an ANC rally in Pretoria and attend the DA Womens Network in Port Elizabeth was ill-considerate as it opens up her office to perception of political bias,BUT what i understand about Madonsela is that she is obliged to fulfil her constitutional obligation of being accessible to all persons and communities including the DA.

The ANC can complain all they want as it is said by the DA Women Alliance,Celeste Barker that Madonselas' speech was not politically related at all but instead her topic was about "how one can redress the feminisation of poverty, unemployment and gender violence using constitutional mechanisms.

Yes, Thulisile Madonsela has a responsibility towards the ANC but as a Publi Protector she has the right to empower and educate those aound her. It is also part of the Public Protectors responsibilities to be independent, impartial and exercise her right without fear, favour or even prejudice.

Is this a political vendetta
The real question here is:Was Madonsela really in the wrong by not attending the ANC rally but instead to attend a DA Womens Network to uplift woman. Is the REAL issue here that she attended a DA event instead of ANC??hmmm makes one think.

I Am Woman

This is the perfect introduction to a perfect month for women all over the continent. Woman who are proud to say I AM WOMAN..

Womans Month is happening throughout the month of August and here in South Africa we are celebrating it with no limits. South Africa celebrates this years Womans month which calls upon african leaders to advance womens participation in politics and empowering them economically. womens news

www.phuthu.co.za
International Womans Day/Month recognisers and applauds womens achievement and also observing and highlighting gender inequalities, which ofcourse that is one of the major problmes women are dealing with especially in the work place. But....

What good is International Womens Day?
A hundred years of celebration, and as far as i can see women still get pathetic deals, eventhough they are admirable, articulate and keep the world together.Yes we all know, August is womens month and womens day would obciously take place in the month of march but honestly i wouldnt have noticed if someone  hadnt told me. A hundred and one years of celebration and women still get the broken end of the stick..

www.fogelsonblog.blogspot.com

We love and respect International Womens day and yes its great that we commemorate womans day and month but does this mean for the rest of the 364 days or 11 months that we do not celebrate them we should turn them into victims; victims of abuse, rape, murder....What freedom is there if women are not free. What is the significance of it all if women are still going to be suppressed, given raw and unimaginable deals. If we cannot deal with such issues that concern women throughout the year how will we achieve these issues in a month?
