Last week I blogged about the story that brought the Nation to shame, where seven men raped a 17 year old girl. We saw the way in which the media and its readers reacted. You aired your views and gave suggestions on how these seven men should be prosecuted, now for the follow up.
Yesterday, 03 May 2012 at 16h18, The City PressThe City Press published online that four minors who were accused of raping the 17 year old girl were granted bail of R500 and house arrest by the Roodeport Magistrate Court, reminding us the public that children between the ages seven and fourteen are assumed to be criminally incapable.

What confuses me is that this 13 year old boy went through raping this girl and committing more criminal offences(sexually), how can the law still stand by him saying that he is "criminally uncapable"? How is this boy supposed to learn that what he has done was and still is a very serious offence?

What does this say about us as a country, that we agree and support rape even done by minors. When is this barbaric act going to end if no unfair punishment is given to rapists.
What a system we have in this country.....
